Bespoke Home Bar | Cobham | Surrey
Acorn Bespoke Carpentry and Joinery were commissioned to design and build this stunning bespoke home bar for a residence in Cobham, Surrey. The owners wanted us to create a statement piece that combined exceptional functionality with a real wow factor.
All our bespoke commissions start by exploring and developing ideas together. For this project, we came up with initial drawings and presented samples for materials and finishes, and then experimented with various ideas with our clients until they decided on the final impressive design. Stunningly styled for entertaining features include made to measure cabinetry, tailored storage, and vivid lighting.
Bespoke opulent design
Our clients wanted a standout piece of furniture with a dark dramatic colour, layers of decorative interest and multiple opulent material finishes. The large unit also needed to provide extensive tailored storage for tableware, dining, and bar equipment, combined with practical and elegant display shelving for glassware and bottles.
Antique glass and modern neon sign
We liaised with the team at Float Glass Design to produce the bespoke antique mirror glass. The super stylish distressed finish is also toughened making it ideal as a splashback.
The glass was designed to allow us to install the customised neon sign, which we had made by the sign makers at Icon Neon.
Stained oak and brass doors
The lower-level section of the bar unit houses the wine and beer fridges, which are neatly concealed behind the stained oak doors. The doors’ brass inlay and the complementary brass plinth gives the furniture a warm, luxury look. As you can see, the doors on either side of the lower section are slatted in solid oak which again adds interest and texture to the piece. The dark knurled handles selected from Buster and Punch also elevate the look of the cabinetry and compliment the overall palette.
Dark quartz countertop
The quartz countertop delivers a dark natural stone aesthetic and harmonises perfectly with the rest of the bespoke fitted furniture. Quartz is a beautiful and durable engineered stone and being resistant to staining and scratches is the ideal surface for a home bar.
Bespoke lighting for the home bar
Lighting for a home bar is important as it illuminates task working and adds atmosphere and decoration. Inside the upper cupboards we fitted integrated LED lighting using the Loox system by Häfele. When the doors are closed this soft backlighting is incredibly effective through the reeded glazed doors. Reeded glass adds a stylish fluted texture to the doors and provides the benefit of both privacy and light.
