Bespoke Fitted Bedroom Furniture With A Sloped Ceiling | Wimbledon | London
Acorn Bespoke Carpentry and Joinery were commissioned to build this bespoke fitted bedroom furniture for a new build residential property in Wimbledon, London. Our joinery expertise in creating made to measure built-in wardrobes and storage units for sloping ceilings or slanted roofs was essential for this project.
This dreamy room has a suite of matching bedroom furniture, including custom made wardrobes, a desk and a run of fitted low-level drawers and storage units. Freestanding furniture would have made the room feel cramped. This bespoke fitted furniture design streamlines the room, with clothing and even cabling, beautifully concealed, yet organised and accessible.
The pale tones of the décor create a delightful, calming environment. The exterior of the wardrobes is finished in a lovely pale, yet warm neutral architectural shade: Paint and Paper Library’s ‘Stone IV’. This high-quality water-based paint was selected in an eggshell finish, which has a subtle sheen and soft, smooth surface. The interiors are all lined in a natural warm oiled oak.
Bedroom furniture shaped to fit
The angled floor to ceiling wardrobes follow the exact contour of the sloped ceiling and utilise every millimetre of available space for storage. Along with plenty of hanging space, a bespoke shoe shelving system has been incorporated to store, organise, and display the client’s footwear collection. A special feature of the made to measure fitted wardrobes is a hidden panel. This provides easy access to controls and wiring and maintains the stylish streamlined look of the furniture. Cleverly disguised panels like this could also conceal a secret storage compartment, such as a safe for jewellery or watches.
The matching drawer unit extends along the wall and includes an integrated upholstered window seat which forms a cosy nook in natural light. Blum concealed hinges and soft close mechanisms for the drawers ensure effortless operation and durability for many years to come.
